Textile reactive thickeners are used in the textile industry specifically for reactive dye printing. They play a crucial role in controlling the rheological properties of the printing paste, ensuring proper adhesion of reactive dyes to the fabric during the printing process.

Viscosity Control

Reactive thickeners are designed to increase the viscosity of the printing paste, providing better control over its flow and preventing dye migration on the fabric.
Compatibility: Compatible with reactive dyes and other components in the printing paste to ensure stability and uniformity in the formulation.

Shear Thinning:

Similar to pigment thickeners, reactive thickeners also exhibit shear-thinning behavior, facilitating the application of the paste during printing and recovering viscosity when the stress is removed. Stability: Maintains stability of the printing paste over time, resisting settling and other forms of separation.

Ionic Nature

The ionic nature of the thickener is important for its interaction with reactive dyes. Reactive thickeners are often chosen based on their compatibility with the charged reactive dye molecules.

Environmental Impact

There is a growing emphasis on environmentally friendly options, therefore, thickeners are with minimal environmental impact, being biodegradable &/or having low toxicity.
Application Method: The method of application, the choice of thickener should be compatible with printing technique like screen printing, rotary printing etc.

Wash Fastness

The reactive thickener contribute to the overall wash fastness of the printed design, ensuring that the reactive dyes adhere well to the fabric and resist fading during washing.
